Welcome to Ganga Paying Guest House in Varanasi

Hello friends!

My name is Kailash Nishad and I would like to welcome you to the Ganga Paying Guest House and music school homestay, located just steps from Assi Ghat, Varanasi. I stay in Varanasi with my wife and children. My wife cooks nourishing home food for the guests in our homestay.

I come from a musician family and both my father and grand-father were musicians. My elder son plays the flute in the Indian Classical music tradition. As is the custom in India, we treat our guests like family and not like someone distant from us. There is a saying in India, “Atithi Devo Bhava”, which translates to “A guest is God”.

I am a native of Varanasi and was born in the same place that my homestay is located. I have learnt the tabla from the age of six and nowadays, I continue to play in national and international concerts and teach my students in Varanasi and Dharamshala in the Himalayas. I continue to perform at international concerts and also conduct extended tabla workshops in various countries like U.S.A., Japan, Australia, many countries of Europe and the U.A.E. I have had the good fortune to learn nuggets of wisdom (from my father and grand-father) about Varanasi and the lifestyle and the culture of the area, which I share with all guests. Assi Ghat has, over the years, become one of the most beautiful and famous ghats in Varanasi. If we look at Hindu mythology, Tulsidas wrote the Ram Charit Manas at this very place.

My homestay is literally a 1-minute walk from beautiful Assi Ghat. Join us for days, weeks, as long as you please. All are welcome here.
